Affirmations–great lessons to learn early in life
What a great resource for Black girls and women to consult and consult often as they come of age–growing into their physical and mental maturity. From gaining a healthy sense of self identity, and confidence, worth and purpose to knowing how to confront and tackle the obstacles and challenges that a Black girl, Black women will experience as they navigate society. The book is filled with evidence and research references on the power and benefits of using affirmations. Real examples are provided of how developing, and practicing affirmations consistently can change how one perceives herself, her role in relationships, her capabilities and the paths she may choose to achieve her true purpose and other career goals. Highly recommended for Black adolescents, teens, and women.

A Good Start For Those New to Affirmations
If you are just learning about affirmations or trying the process for the first time, this is a good read for you. Everything is backed by research and each chapter provides a few examples of affirmations to get you started. It’s a fairly short read and it has a great writing exercise in the end.I will say it’s a little clinical because it is so backed by so much research. So if you are a more logical person needing encouragement to start affirming your life this is definitely the book for you.

Love it!
I love that this is an Affirmation book for Black women and that it speaks of other Black women through time. “As Black women we carry the weight of generations of trauma in our bodies mind and spirts” I loved this line because we do. Life doesn’t come easy when your skin is Black the expectations that society, our families and even that we put on ourselves can weigh heavy on who we are as individuals. The book isn’t just written with opinions, the author researched her subject and included documented facts and along the way she gave examples of positive affirmations that will change your way of thinking and improve your life.

Love yourself more through the empowered mind
I have so much respect for this author, writing the history, and logic and delivering quotes that have to do with why and how to use affirmations to completely adjust our mindset. Honestly, I cannot wait to get the second book in the series. It is high time that women draw on our strengths, and I learned so much from this book that I will use moving forward. The themes drew from career to compassion and even had a short workbook check-in at the end. So practical and heartfelt.

This book looks at affirmations and the importance of this for black women who often find themselves intimidated and marginalised. I like how the author used her personal experience and the examples of some black women to demonstrate the effect of affirmation on areas such as careers. I like the quote at the start of each chapter. This is a great book for creating positivity and love of self. It also looks at areas such as gratitude and affirmation which are vital for growth and development. I like the fact that referencing and research is used to authenticate points made in the book. I highly recommend.
